Tips for choosing the perfect coffee

Nowadays, it is impossible to imagine coffee away of the Dutch culture. At work, at home, at a restaurant, we drink coffee everywhere. But coffee has a very long and interesting history. Once it just started with one kind of coffee. Today we have coffee in a lot of brands en tastes which makes it hard to choose your perfect coffee. Some people always choose the same coffee, while others want to try something different, but where do you start in all these brands? That’s why I wrote a view tips to choose your perfect coffee.

History of coffee

Coffee knows a long history and starts between 575 and 850. Probably Ethiopian and Kenyan tribes brought coffee seeds on their journey to Arabia. Soon people thought coffee taste great and it dispels fatigue. At first people only eat the coffee. Later on they ground coffee to drink it.

Coffee plants

KoffiebonenWhat is coffee? Coffee is a seed of the cherry of the coffee plant. These plants grow in different continents. When the seeds are ripe, they are harvested. Then the coffee is dried and calcined. In this process the taste and the aroma of the coffee is created. Also when you grind the coffee you can choose between a fine and a coarse grinding. This also effects the taste of the coffee.

How to choose your perfect coffee

Above we learned how the different tastes and aromas where created. But how do you choose between this tastes and all the brands? You have to ask yourself a view questions.

1.   How do I like my coffee?
Some people drink coffee strong, others prefer a light coffee. (Milk and sugar for in the coffee can also help you with this).

2.   How do I make my coffee?
Besides all the coffee brands, there is also a difference between the coffee. There is grinded coffee, coffee beans, coffee cups etc.. It depend on the coffee machine you have, which coffee you will choose.

With these two questions you can decide what kind of coffee you want to drink. Regular coffee, strong coffee, caffeine free coffee or coffee with a special taste.


How to choose your brand?

Then we have another difficulty. How do we choose the brand. Nowadays there are a lot of coffee brands. What makes it hard is that every kind of coffee taste different by every brand. It’s hard to give advice besides to say look at the brands to see how the coffee should taste. Make your choice by that and just try a few brands to see which turns out best.
